Croatia’s leading festival, Outlook, which takes place this September on the idyllic Adriatic shoreline, is bringing some its sun-kissed magic to London on Sunday August 2nd.
Outlook unites the world’s finest purveyors of dub, reggae, hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass, garage, grime, dubstep, house, techno and electronica and more across a spectacular weekend of music, and returns to Pula for its 8th season.
A specially curated three-part event taking place at The ACE Hotel in Shoreditch, uniting some of the festival’s key partners and crews, will demonstrate its scope not only across dance music culture but also the latest technologies, cutting-edge developments and big questions forming just behind it.
From 3.30pm, the afternoon sees the Knowledge Arena alongside CDR hosting a round table event on the 7th floor of the stunning building. One of Outlook’s directors and Gentleman’s Dub Club’s own Johnny Scratchley will lead the round table debate on How Do We Consume Music? which will look at music hardware. Guest speakers include Adrian Sherwood and Dolan Bergin, with more to be announced. The round table will cover an edifying range of topics including production, radio and streaming, events and personal listening. Next door, Native Instruments’ David Essian, SubPac and ROLI Seaboard will be hosting separate demonstrations of their technologies during the day too as part of Show Me Tell Me, where guests can interact with their latest products.
The Knowledge Area returns to Outlook for its second year, with a series of inspiring interviews and workshops in Croatia, bringing the leading players of the scene up close and personal to everyone at the festival. CDR are also working with Outlook’s fellow festival, Dimensions, as part of their Local Audio Project, which will be released later in the year which encourages members of the public to upload interesting field recordings as sources of inspiration.
Then stream specialists Just Jam present a 3-hour live session from ACE as part two of the party, with Paleman, The Heatwave, Benton, Jamzs and General Courts, Tim and Barry all taking to the decks. Just Jam is a live music event streamed straight from the underground, showcasing the grittiest electronic music from around the globe. They have recently been commissioned by The V&A, The Barbican and L.C.F to produce Audio Visual performance for their bespoke events, and return to Outlook this September.
Finally the legendary London session Work It merrily lead Sunday night from 10pm into Monday morning, moving the party to ACE’s basement for a bass-bouncing work out from Siobhan Bell, Blackfoot Phoenix, Crackstevens B2B Larry B and the Work It Girls. Criss-crossing the capital with their epic East London shows, Work It are Outlook faves and bring this brilliant event to a rousing end through to 3am.
