Festival Overview: Boomtown is one of the UK’s largest, truly independent music and theatrical festivals.  The 66,000 capacity, five day experience combines a diverse multi-genre musical lineup with groundbreaking theatrical concepts and awe inspiring circus spectaculars, in a totally immersive world that exists within a living, breathing, fictitious city.

Headliners: The lineup, made up of over 500 artists, features international superstars right through to grassroots talent who perform across the 27 main stages and 80 interactive street venues; bringing with them sounds from over 80 musical genres. This year, the festival has an international headline line-up that includes the likes of Lauryn Hill, Prpphets of Rage, The Streets, Chronixx, Chase & Status, Groove Armada, Slaves, Salt-N-Pepa, UB40 (ft. Ali Campbell & Astro) and Gogol Bordello.

Theatrical Highlights: Boomtown follows a storyline that evolves each year and is played out across all areas of the sprawling city that is made up of 12 uniquely themed districts.  It’s a theatrically-led experience like no other where hundreds of actors bring the film-like street sets to life and alongside enjoying the extraordinary musical programme. They encourage the public to explore all the city has to offer, to become their inner character and be a part of the story themselves.

Family Friendly: Boomtown is family friendly with a dediated family district called Kidztown that includes a main stage of it’s own, with a huge line up from artists playing across the festival. There is a high street with kid sized immersive venues, 100s of interactive workshops, forest school, to inflatables and skate ramps. It has family camping and car park, and facilities for all kids and families alike.

Environmental Mission for 2019:  Having grown in size from 1,000 to 66,000 capacity Boomtown’s ongoing priority is to protect the environment from the impact of an event this size. To raise awareness amongst the public that attend and encourage them to make changes to their behaviour both at the festival but also beyond. Chapter 11 will be in every way a Radical City, with green initiatives embedded into all of the event planning and infrastructure and on the ground. Check out the Environmental Mission and initiatives here and our latest environmental video here.
