24 Jun DDD051 – Khiva – Butterfly Effect EP
Making her awaited return, this time on wax, to the writhing multifaceted monster that is the DDD release schedule. Khiva’s ‘Butterfly Effect’ EP shows not only the ever changing yet coherent stylistic potential of her work but is a strong testament to her growth as a producer and artist since the debut of ‘In the Quiet’ in 2017.
Khiva has earned the attention of many in a short time, recently being named one of DJ Mag’s ’12 Emerging Artists You Need to Hear’ for May 2019 and being invited to perform at Bassnectar’s ‘BASSCENTER’ event this fall.
We have been heavily playing all the cuts off this record. The title track ‘Butterfly Effect’ has been turning heads from the minute we first dropped it. It’s different, it’s interesting and there have been more than a few instant-rewinds of this track.
‘Feel it Out’ is a rudimental stomper specked with dreamlike vocal accents, the undulating bassline sits amidst eccentric atmospherics in ‘The Method (Of Madness), while “Other Side” is a pacesetting dub-techno hybrid, laced again with the producer’s delicate vocals and jazzy persona (Listen to the track below).
